Westerns ... Should they now be dropped from TV schedules?

A recent letter in the UK TV listings magazine "Radio Times" states the following, under the heading 'Not the Bad Guys': "With many channels removing films or TV series that contain offensive material, isn't it about time that they also stopped showing westerns? Many portray Native Americans as the bad guys, when in reality they were trying to halt the invasion of their lands and the genocide of their people. Now they are an ethnic minority in their own country, I think they deserve the same respect." Since the European settlers' and colonizers' treatment of the native population foreshadowed by several generations the Nazis' treatment of the Jews, I wonder how many today would agree with the sentiments expressed in that letter.

"white man" showed up.

These types of 'rebooted' sanitised versions of history trying portray
"innocent minorities" and had-done by snaintly figures are a
moronically stupid invention of the "Politically Correct" imbeciles of
today and have even less to do with reality than those old cowboy films
they now want to add to the banned list.

It's the same in New Zealand with the Maori people jumping up and down
about "white man" taking their land, wanting special reverse-racism
privileges, etc. ,,, yet the Maori were always warring amongst
themselves, including eating their enemies, and they basically killed
off the entire race of Moriori people to take their land.

Right. And different Polish factions fought amongst themselves long before the Nazis and the Russians "showed up" in the 1940s.

Actually, pre war Poland was denounced by the U.S. and most of the
other civilized world, at least after the coup in the 1920s.

They inadvertently helped Hitler by making their own territorial demands
against Czechoslovak after Hitler annexed the sudetenland. And pre
Hitler, the two biggest threats the German military perceived after the
restrictions placed on them following the First World War were #1 a
communist insurgency and #2 an attack by Poland.

...if you ever read the TimeLife series, they claimed that at one
point the military planned on marshaling the SA (the brown shirts) in
response to a Polish attack. You can argue that militaries need
entertain all sorts of contingency plans, and this doesn't necessarily
mean anything, but Poland was not governed by good guys at the time.

So, if anything, "Political Correctness" has erased the fascist Polish
government from history, to avoid any pro Nazi sympathies.
