Supposedly June Allyson was really into men in her heyday as a star
(40s-50s),
while having a prim girl-next-door image.

. . . ''nymphomaniac''?
Tallulah Bankhead supposedly cut quite a swath in her day.

I've also read that Carole Landis was let out as a sort of studio tart
to seal business deals with visiting executives. (Don't know veracity of
this, but it certainly sounds exciting.)

Carole Landis was promiscuous by the standards of her day, but she was also
a feminist who was plain-spoken and assertive, not the type to submit to
such an arrangement.

No blow-by-blow description, but I do recall Evelyn Keyes boasting of
her skill in this department in her autobiography, Scarlett O'Hara's Little
Sister, subtitled: Movie Star, Mistress, Wife, Sexual Adventurer.

Barbara Payton apparently resorted to prostitution when her career
dried up, and wrote about it in her autobiography.

literature, I don't know.)

She doubtless fetched a pretty penny. Lucky it was only her career that
dried up.

Didn't Louise Brooks take a similar step when she fled Hollywood &
landed in, I believe, Chicago?

Working in the opposite direction career-wise, Denise Richards was
rumored to have been a Heidi Fleiss girl before hitting big as the
talented mega-star we all know and love.

Louise Brooks lived in - amongst other places - New York City during
her post film life, and landed up in Rochester, dying there of a heart
attack.

Here's a few quotes in imdb attributed to Denise :-

"Doing love scenes is always awkward. I mean, it's just not a normal
thing to go to work and lay in bed with your co-worker."

"I found out early I could make more money modeling than I could
waitressing and scooping Haagen-Dazs. But I always wanted to be an
actress."

"I'm spontaneous. I love going from one thing to something else and not
knowing what I'm going to do next."

(Tee-hee)

For a great trashy, sleazy read about prostitution in Hollywood get
"You'll Never Make Love in this Town Again" by Robin, Liza, Linda and
Tiffany four former highly paid call girls who serviced the rich and
the famous - now reformed (Yeah right) they point out how dangerous the
life can get - Names are named.

As Alice Roosevelt (I think) said "If you can't say something good
about someone then come and sit by me."

Paulette Goddard allegedly had them all beat.

There was a story, possibly about her, that ended with these lines, one
from a wide-eyed young screenwriter, followed by a response from a
producer she'd worked with:

"You mean she's a nymphomaniac?"
"Well, she would be if she calmed down."

[Actually, I can't confirm that this story, which came from Harry
Tugend, the producer, was about Goddard at all. After reading it in an
interview with someone about Raymond Chandler, I looked up Tugend's
credits to see which actress he would have been working with at the
time and Goddard's name jumped out at me, which tied in with other
stories I'd heard about her, so I put two and two together.]

we become that conservative that with the ''liberation'' of women the
only thing we've ''liberated'' has been time wasting, for what are
women if not a waste of time? and now none of them dare screw around
cuz they wanna think themselves so prestigious?
