Dwayne The Rock Johnson is present cinema's best action hero. He can act, that is hold the screen, with well delivered lines and a persona that is a bit like Sly Stallone when he's on his best behavior but Johnson's humor is smart not goofy.
Anyone who liked Kong : Skull Island should find this giant monsters on the loose fantasy A O K . Good as is Johnson as an animal loving primate specialist he is usually over shadowed by George, a genetically altered gorilla, a wolf and sort of shark who have also been accidentally altered to be really large and tough to bring down.
Action sequences and humorous moments work very well and while the rest of the human cast is cardboard there's enough quality to make the grade.
George is more Mighty Joe Young than Kong, the big wrap up battle is aces... works for me 8-/10 another big monkeys

"The Rock"? "He can act"? "Hold the screen"? How old are you? Nine? Ten?

Rock's got style, but you probably think big Arnold's a bust. What they both can accomplish is to present a performance of quality , which is subdivision of " acting "... I'm impressed by your clarity of nuanced opinion.

What can you feel about a film that is funny and thrilling all the way through? THe Rock is constantly dropping deadpan , droll humor that far outdoes big Arnold.
I eventually got accustomed to and appreciated the look of the big monster battles in Godzilla. The big creatures in this battle in a 180 degree opposite way : easy to see and they move really fast. A pleasure to watch.
Screenplay did a great job making George the big gorilla constantly of interest. The special ops guy is just right and a foil for the Rock as well.
Can't see giving this less than a 9 + /10 flying wolves.
