Son ( Phillip Seymour Hoffman ) needs money gets brother ( needs money ) to rob family business. Things go kablooey and angst rules.
Some good character interactions that include father ( Albert Finney ) make the story of interest until two shooting incidents come across as a bit much as does pop's trip to the hospital.
Hoffman's dour demeanor is unintentionally comical. Outside the box mostly good crime doesn't pay flick.. Liked the line, " The world is an evil place, some people get rich because of it, other get destroyed ". 7/10 destroyed you betchums

Giving this more thought the matter of the keys to the store and rented car are just too far from reality to accept as being good ideas. 6/10 it always comes down to monies

Should also add " smart " son Hoffman's business thefts leave a paper trail as wide as an ocean and he just sits around waiting to be caught. Screenplay is so wrapped up in the idea of " a mistake " having been made it plays fast and loose with reality. 5+/10 leave your objectivity at the doors
